Walk Across Texas Begins February 1st!

The distance from one end of Texas to the other is 830 Miles.  Though if I told you to stop what you're doing right now and walk those 830 miles, you'd probably say 'No Way!', that's exactly what this challenge is asking you to do!
The challenge does make the task a bit easier than that; you can participate on a TEAM of up to 7 other 4-Her's (8 max per team,) and you have 8 weeks to complete the challenge.  Sounds easier now?  If each member on a team of 8 got up and walked for 30 minutes a day five days a week, you WILL complete the challenge.  Last year, my club had a team of 7 Senior-level members that completed the challenge in THREE WEEKS!!!  Though exhausting, it is possible!
You can also get the adults in your club involved, as well as family members that are not in 4-H!  We're not picky, we just want everyone to be healthy!
If your club is interested, please send me an e-mail with the following:

Club Name/Team Name (Be creative with Team Names!)
Team Captain: Jane Doe - Age 17 (Best way to contact?)
Member One: John Doe - Age 12
Member Two: Jim Doe - Age 16
Member Three: Jen Doe - Age 11
Member Four: Jack Doe - Age 16
Member Five: Joe Doe - Age 14
Member Six: Bob Doe - Age Adult
Member Seven: None

Remember, your team does not have to have eight total members, that's just the maximum!  Your club can have as many teams as you'd like!  Also, a Team Captain's job is to encourage other team members then gather their miles each week (While also participating in the challenge!) so it can be adult or 4-Her with this job!
Here is the website with more information, along with a calculator that allows you to convert time doing other activities (Dancing, Skating, Boxing, Gardening, etc.) into miles you can use in the challenge:  http://walkacrosstexas.tamu.edu/
The challenge begins for Tarrant County on February 1st, which is only a few days away, so please let me know ASAP if your club will be participating!  I will send all Team Captains further instructions this weekend :)
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me!

Calling all Tarrant County 4-Her's!  Are you interested in any of the Healthy Lifestyles projects?  Wanna learn about upcoming 4-H events?  Or maybe you just want to meet new friends and play fun games?  Well I've got a meeting for you!

Tonight at 6:30 on the 5th Floor of the County Extension building is when the fun begins!  Join us for delicious snacks, play the 'Popsicle Stick Challenge', learn about 'Health Habits' from one of our State Healthy Lifestyles Ambassadors (Me!), and stay for a Line Dance class afterwards!  We will also be kicking off the County '4th H is for Health' challenge and learning about Walk Across Texas!!!

This meeting is open to all 4-Her's in Tarrant County, and the County Council Officers and I would like to break our record for attendance this year, but we need your help to make it happen!  This meeting is sure to be tons of fun, so feel free to invite your friends to join us!

And adults, remember that tonight we have an ALA meeting that you don't want to miss!

I hope to see everyone there!!!
