Voyage 4-H: Operation Christmas Child

Pictured are the Voyage 4-H members packing shoe boxes full of toys and personal items for Operation Christmas Child.
The club donated 44 boxes this year, which will all go to impoverished children in third-world countries that might not get Christmas presents.  Many of these children have lost their homes due to war, and these gift boxes may be the only personal items that they will recieve.

Straight Shooters: Archery

The only way to learn how to 'Shoot Straight' is to practice, practice, practice!
The Straight Shooters 4-H club members get a lot of practice in their activities.  They do all sorts of Shooting, including Shotgun, Rifle, and - pictured - Archery.
I don't care how much practice they get; I don't want one of them shooting an apple off my head!

Westside 4-H: Community Service

Goodness, I haven't posted on this thing in forever.  For those of you who probably don't remember who I am, my name is Amanda Roach, and I was the 2010-2011 Reporter.  Now, Will Babler and I are the 2011-2012 historians.  One of my projects I've taken on through being Historian is bringing my old blog back to life, with pictures of everything going on in Tarrant County 4-H.  Just like these:

The Westside 4-H club recently did this community service project to cover up Gang Graffiti with Youth Art.  Studies find that murals have proven to be an effective means of deterring graffiti from appearing on public and private structures.  I think that it just looks AWESOME!  Good job, Westside!

The show will offer a photography contest along with conformation, showmanship, obedience, drill, costume and trick classes.
If you have any questions please contact Larissa Daily at lvdaily2006@yahoo.com or give her a call at 214-402-5314.
I'll definitely be there, you guys should too!

Time Machine! (Annual Dance!)

Hey guys!  I'm super excited about this event!
THE ANNUAL COUNTY DANCE!
This years theme is Time Machine.  You can come as a caveman from the prehistoric age, you can come as a hippie from the 70's, or even a robot from the future!  The dance will feature music from all era's.
The dance will be at the extension office (200 Taylor Street, 5th floor) on Friday, April 15, at 7:00 p.m.  Families are encouraged to bring a snack/bevarage for the thirsty and hungry kids to snack on!
Hope to see you all there, and I'm looking forward to High-fiving a caveman or a hippie!

Share-The-Fun results!

Hey guys!  As many of you know, the county talent show (Share-the-Fun) was on Friday, March 25th (Wow, look at how late I am lol) Everyone who participated received a blue ribbon, and there were some amazing acts there!  It was a whole lot of fun.
For whoever wants to go to District, it is on Saturday, April 30th.  It is at Texas A&M Commerce in the afternoon.
Note, If you also made it to District in Educational presentations, you have to pick between Share-the-Fun, and that.

Good job to all who participated!

~Amanda

P.S. The picture is of 'My 4-H is Better than Your 4-H' preformed by Amanda Roach (ME!) and Katie Womble.
